Each maker of USB to serial adapters provide their own drivers to enable the USB port to emulate a standard comm port. Your device should be named or labeled, hopefully, stamped on the cable, because I can't not tell the brand you have from my vantage point either. Belkin and Palm both provided devices and drivers can be located at their sites.

A search of 'USB to serial adapters' on this board may reveal additional brands, and possibally refresh your memory. A google search may reveal as well.

Dear BAB2000 / Anyone else, been a long time but I'm still unsyncd. After downloading the drivers for my serial to USB converter I am still not able to synchronise my handheld with my desk top. Everytime i plug in my handheld and then visit the device manager I get a question mark in front of this particular port. When I click on properties and it asks me to install drivers I do so by searching for them manually from where I have placed them in my computer - in the Cabs folder of my Windows (I have Windows ME). It then says device is working properly.

I then press my sync button and it gives me error. There are 4 comm ports listed in my hot sync manager set up and for 3 of them (Com 1, 2 and 4) it gives me a messsage of Could not open port Com. Please verify that Com. Is available and make any changes in HotSync set up. Where am I screwing up?
